IEEE Virtual Conference on Green Communications Technology

KENET in collaboration with IEEE Kenya chapter hosted a three day virtual conference on Green Communications Technology starting 12th January to 14th January, 2016. The virtual conference was organized by the IEEE Kenya Chapter in partnership with the KENET Special Interest Group on Engineering Education and Research.

The IEEE Online Conference on Green Communications was held on November 10th to 12th, 2015. The aim of the virtual conference was to open the IEEE conference to Kenyan Engineers, Faculty and Researchers working in the areas of renewable energy for communication systems and networks. A wide spectrum of research subjects were covered including green methodologies and architectures for communication technologies, communication technologies as enablers for green solutions, energy efficiency in Smart Grid communications, and energy management.

The conference not only provided an insight into relevant theoretical and practical issues from different perspectives, but also addressed the environmental impact of the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) industries, discussed the importance and benefits of achieving green ICT, and introduced the efforts and challenges in green ICT.
